Banks allowed 50% manpower in lockdown zones

To avoid heavy rush of customers and maintain physical distancing, the State Government has allowed the banks to run their operations in the lockdown zones with 50% manpower with effect from July 20.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena has issued a notification in this regard as the banks faced problem in dealing with heavy rush of customers due to less manpower because of lockdown.

Notably, the Government recently imposed lockdown in Khordha, Jajpur, Ganjam and Cuttack districts and the Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) area and asked the banks to run their operations with 25% of their manpower for essential banking transactions. But the banks faced a big problem to handle the customers in a limited period of time with a limited manpower.

So, the Government modified its order allowing the banks in the concerned districts and the RMC area to operate from 8 am to 2 pm with customer service from 8 am to 1 pm from July 20 to July 31.

The district administrations and police would provide required support to the banks to ensure proper physical distancing, where required, said the SRC.
