The movable and immovable properties of the defunct Sarala Spinning mill in Tirtol block, which was sealed by its banker two weeks ago due to nonpayment of loan dues amounting to Rs 4.74 lakh, has finally been taken possession by the creditor State Bank of India.
Accompanied by police and a magistrate, SBI officials locked the mill’s main gate and other establishments and announced through loudspeaker that the assets of the ailing mill were taken over by the bank. The bank deployed four security men to guard the mill relieving the eight security personnel, who had been guarding the defunct mill earlier, from their jobs.
Following all this, the Congress party has started a signature campaign for public support to restart the mill. A memorandum would be submitted to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik seeking his intervention, party sources said.
