A daylong bandh called by the Nagarika Committee of Sohela block in Bargarh district on Wednesday demanding declaration of sub-division status to the b lock.
All political parties, the local Journalists’ Association, the Krushaka Sangha, the Lawyers’ Association and several other associations of Sohela supported the bandh. All Government and non-Government offices, schools and colleges and business establishments were completely paralysed owing to the bandh.
The bandh was led by Nagarika Committee president Pramod Chandra Debata.
For the public convenience, bus and other transport services were not included in the purview of the bandh. So, none was affected for road communication.
Among others, Anil Pradhan, Sushanta Mishra, Balbir Singh Thakur, Lalit Agrawal, Nathuram Agrawal, Dilip Khamari and Jayakrishna Sahu played leading role in the bandh. They said Sohela block has all the criteria to become a sub-division; so, the demand for it is fully genuine.
