Gambling has become a matter of concern for the public near Puja Mandaps across the city. Illegal activities are continuing in 30 gambling dens near the Nayapalli Puja Mandap, said members of the Rajadhani Nagarika Samiti on Tuesday.
Gamblers are also now more active near the Puja Mandaps at Baramunda, Bomikhal, laxmi Sagar, Rasulgarh, Rupali, Satya Nagar, Ganga Nagar and Old Bhubaneswar in festive time and expanding their dens in these areas.
The Samiti alleged that it has intimated the Government and the police about the gambling business during Dussehra when they do a business of about Rs100 crore. The Samiti demanded a ban on gambling as common people face problems for the illegal activities.
The Samiti requested Commissionerate Police to take prompt measures in this regard.
