Ban giant mineral-lifting trolleys: Locals

Published on:

The year 2021 being the deadline for the end of the lease of almost all the mines under the Joda Mining Circle, there is a competition among all the lease holders to despatch materials extracted from their mines for which transporters are engaging a large number of vehicles, leading to traffic rush on NH-520 from Rimuli to Rajamunda.

The stretch is under construction these days to convert it to a 4 -laning road. The latest introduction of giant size trolleys having 24 wheels is multiplying  the woes not only of the commuters but also causing frequent accidents.

It is alleged that the local RTO and MVI are giving illegal permission to ply these giant vehicles on the single road in violation of the standard bearing capacity of the road. If these are allowed to move without restrictions, then there will  be not only delay in completion of NH- 520 but also the road will be damaged before completion.

Sources revealed that on June 18 in the Budget Session of the Odisha Assembly ,there was a discussion on the bad road conditions and traffic problems of NH- 520 but the local district administration is yet to streamline the issue.

The problem came to light when a trolly no- OD- 02F- 5599  dashed a road side house of  a poor man after loosing  balance while trying to overtake a dumper at Kalapahad ghat near DDM office Joda.

It is demanded that traffic police should be posted at different locations to regulate the jam and movement of giant trolly should be banned till the road is ready.
