Forester Jayakrushna Bhoi and Forest Guard Ganesh Ram Sahu were threatened to be killed by one Paremeshwar Mirdha with an axe in forest after the officials seized seven bicycles transporting raw bamboo shoots in the Tikrapada section forest area in the Patnagarh Forest Range a few days ago.

According to delayed reports, the forest officials had on September 5 gone there on routine forest duty and seen people transporting raw bamboo shoots in bicycles. The culprits belong to Belghati, Guduramunda and Khamgada villages. Seeing the forest officials, they fled from the spot, leaving the bicycles

After some time, another person, Parmeshwar Mirdha, came with an axe and threatened to kill the forest officials, who fled from the site to save themselves.

The tyres of the forest officials’ two-wheeler were cut with an axe by the miscreant. The vehicle was parked away from the incident spot in a forest road.

The forest officials informed this incident to local Van Suraksha Samiti (VSS) committee members, who also came to spot. Seeing the villagers, the accused fled from the site.

“We have lodged a complaint in this regard at the Patnagarh police station,” said a forest official.
