laxmidhar Panda, ASI of Police, Balugaon police station, was on Monday arrested by Vigilance police for accepting bribe of Rs 10,000.
He had demanded the bribe from Trilochan Ransingh of village Beruan to arrest the accused persons in a case filed by his father at the Khurda police station. Though Panda has been transferred from Khurda to Balugaon, he has not handed over the charge of the case till date.
A trap was laid by Vigilance officers at Khurda town near Sakuntala Market Complex. As per instruction of Panda, Ransingh kept the bribe money in a bag which was then kept on Panda’s motorcycle. On Tuesday, Panda was forwarded to court, from where he was remanded to judicial custody till August 26.
