A 58-year-old woman heart patient of Jaleswar, who returned to her village after surgery, had to wait for more than four hours before she could only enter into her brother’s village due to Covid-induced fear resistance of her co-villagers. She finally entered her brother’s house following intervention by the local Srapanch.

Champabati Patra, who was residing with her daughter at Sikharpur in Cuttack, was suffering from cardiac ailments for a long time. About two weeks ago while her condition deteriorated, she was admitted in a private hospital in Bhubaneswar and subsequently underwent a surgery.

After discharge from the hospital, she was returning to her village by an ambulance. Although her daughter showed her Covid-free report, the locals refused to let her enter the village. Following

Sarpanch Harekrushna Giri’s intervention, she was taken to her brother’s house in another village, Rajnagar, under the same GP.

Regarding the issue, a relative of the woman lodged a complaint with local police.
