Villagers of Raghunathpur under Remuna Police Station in Baleswar district on Thursday blocked a nearby road after the body of a three and half-a-year-old boy was found floating in a pond.
The boy identified as son of one Madhabananda Behera had been missing since August 13.Alleging that the boy has been murdered, the villagers blocked the road connecting Durgadevi and Baliapal at Baharda. The traffic was disrupted for several hours. They called off the agitation after senior district-level officers, including the SDPO, assured them of appropriate steps.
The administration gave Rs10,000 from the Red Cross fund to the family members of the deceased and assured a house under the Mo Kudia scheme.Meanwhile, the police, suspecting that the boy has been killed over property dispute, have detained two of his relatives. Earlier, hundreds of villagers had gheraoed the Remuna Police Station alleging inaction.
