A Plus Two student with a rural background has drawn the attention of all by developing a human robot out of his passion for science and technology.

He is Nilamadhaba Behera (18) of village Nanpur, Santagadia under Nilgiri block in Baleswar district and a student of the Talanagar College of Soro waiting for his Plus Two Science final result.

The prototype robot which he has developed is able to perform several activities like a human being and can prove an effective tool of immense help for Defence forces, said he.

Baleswar MP RK Jena facilitated Nilamadhaba and encouraged him to pursue his endeavour for science. He also assured him of all help so that he could undertake further study and research in the related field.

“The boy has made Baleswar proud. We are looking for an institute in India which is offering study and research in robotics. Sooner it is found, he would be enrolled. All his expanses would be borne. The State Government is apprised about the boy’s talent,” said Jena.

Nilamadhaba is the only child of Sasikanta Behera, a teacher in a private school, and Nirupama Behera, a homemaker.

Sasikanta said, “Since childhood, Nilamadhaba had very special attraction towards toys. Dismantling and assembling again has been his passion since then. For developing a human robot, he seriously worked about two years ago and made a prototype which is able to perform several jobs like a human. Out of a meagre source of income, I have extended financial support for this robot.”

Nilamadhaba said he went through various sites in the internet which helped him complete his project.

“The robot developed is able to talk, walk and respond through mind control gadget. I have a desire to develop a robot which can be deployed in border by Defence forces and can operate through satellite command,” said he.
