A review of various important projects of Baleswar was held recently when a high power team headed by Works Secretary Nalini Kanta Pradhan visited the district.
Pradhan after having discussions with the local MP RK Jena visited the project site. Chief Engineer Omprakash Patel, Superintendent Engineer
Manas Pattnayak, Executive Engineers Alok Mohanty and Mahesh Mohanty participated in the discussion.
After the review, Pradhan said the construction work for a proposed ring road could be taken up immediately as some portion of about 3 km was clear from any sorts of hurdles.
“The portion which is clear can be taken up for construction immediately. The project would be completed in three phases by three different departments including Works, Irrigation and Drainage. It may take 3-5 years,” said Pradhan.
“The ring road is a futuristic project and it would mitigate a lot of problems for this growing city. The initial plan is revised so as to avoid private land acquisition,” said Jena.
The proposed ring road of 27.5 km will be laid on the town's outskirts between Nuniajodi and Chandipur along the Budhabalanga river bank.
It would touch the national highway at one end and the defence road at Chandipur on the other. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) will construct 13km stretch of the road, while the Irrigation and Works departments will construct 12.3km and 2.7km stretches respectively.
He further said the survey works and detail project report (DPR) for the flyover bridges in the town from ITI square to FM Golai are in progress and would be ready in four months.
Discussions too were held on the road between Baliapal and Dagara via Chaumukh . Pradhan informed that the proposed road would be made by the Subarnarekha Port Authority.
The foundation stone for the proposed port would be laid tentatively in the last week of June or first week of July, said sources.
Further, Pradhan said a proposal for an inter-State road between Haldipada and Digha via Pantei would be sent to the Government of India soon for approval.
A four- lane road between Kuruda and FM Golai is almost complete and the left out portion between Ramamani College and ITI would be completed soon while the four-lanning from bus stand to Remuna Golai is in progress.
Pradhan said the town roads which were handed over to the Works Department would be taken up for repair after recasting since the chips and boulders were available in Bagudi, Soro instead of procuring them from Chandikhol stone crushers.
