Two tehsil staff members of Chandipur circle under Baleswar Sadar tehsil were suspended and an FIR was lodged against them by the Tehsildar for financial bungling. The duo, RI Jaganmayee Mishra and peon Daitari Das, committed financial fraud to the tune of nearly Rs1 lakh.
The accused duo after printing fake receipt books of the Revenue Department collected fees and fines from the parties by issuing fake receipts.
The malpractice was exposed when a party went to bank to avail a loan by mortgaging his land. During verification, it was found by the bank that the revenue dues against the land were not cleared. When the matter came to the knowledge of the Tehsildar, she initiated an internal inquiry.
It was found the allegations against them were true. A report was submitted for further action of the district Collector. “RI Mishra was earlier trapped twice by the vigilance sleuths while working in Remuna and Nagaram circle,” Sadar Tehsildar Rashmirekha Pradhan said.
