The electrical employees under the banner of the Nesco Shakti Karmachari Sangh (NSKS) have embarked on a cease-work agitation in protest against the actions of the police and the department after an assault on one of their colleagues by a consumer.
They alleged that Akshay Das, lineman C, was brutally attacked by the consumer while he had gone to give connection to a severed line of a domestic consumer of the Chunbhatti area here. “Although a week has passed, the accused person has not been arrested, and we are stopping work from today till the accused is brought to book,” said NSKS secretary Niranjan Padhiary.
Departmental Executive Engineer Sunil Pradhan said, “I requested the union members to resume their duties, but they are unmoved. I have been trying to diffuse the crisis. The police couldn’t make arrest since the accused has absconded.” In this situation, the electricity consumers of Baleswar town are facing a tough time due to want of cooperation from the union members.
