local MP RK Jena on Wednesday raised the issue of special railway division at Baleswar in the lok Sabha. He pointed out that while the rest of Odisha falls under the East Coast Railway, Baleswar is a part of the South Eastern Railway and that is why it has been a raw deal over the years.
He said that the north Odisha region has seen almost nil development in railway infrastructure and the economy and transport of the region has suffered because the region continues to be ignored within the South Eastern Railway.
He demanded that Baleswar be shifted from the South Eastern Railway to the East Coast Railway, so that it can develop its railway infrastructure at par with the rest of Odisha and also demanded that Baleswar be declared a separate railway division, with all the requisite facilities.
