A cold blooded murder of a woman was on Thursday committed by her husband in Baleswar town. The accused Jeet Amresh Satpathy (35) killed Nirupama Gosh (23), a native of Raibania. The incident took place at around 11.15 am in their house behind the lIC office in the town. Nirupama was the second wife of Satpathy, who fled from the scene after committing the crime. Satpathy had married his first wife seven years ago and they have a five-year-old son of their wedlock.
Father of the accused, Durga Madav Satpathy, a known astrologer of the town, said all the family members including him, his wife, their unmarried daughter, the first wife of the accused and their son were bolted from outside when the accused committed the crime. Before fleeing the house, he opened the door and said that he killed Nirupama.
The police found the woman’s body lying in a pool of blood with severe head injury in the dinning space of the first floor of the three-storied building. They also found a dagger, a chopper, a kitchen cutter, a pair of pliers and a gas cylinder at the crime spot. Town PS Inspector-in-Charge Bijay Kumar Murmu said, “The father of the accused is the informant. The family members too are being interrogated.”
The accused was running a gymnasium from the same residential building. He came in contact with Nirupama through facebook, and from January last year she was residing in the house as his second wife.
