Baleswar hotel vandalised; cash looted

Published on:

A group of unknown miscreants last night after vandalising a hotel near NH-5 under Khantapara police station limits allegedly looted cash over `1 lakh, threatening the staffers at gunpoint.

They were six in number and had come to the hotel in two bikes late night. They were in inebriated state and after taking food initially, they had heated arguments with the hotel staffers. They made a demand of `20,000 cash and then they looted cash to the tune of about `1.4 lakh from the cash box, owner of the hotel Asish Biswal said.

Biswal lodged an FIR with police, stating that the miscreants hurled crude bombs and decamped with cash.

The police said efforts are on to identify the culprits and bring them to book. “Although the patrolling staffs immediately rushed to the site, yet the miscreants had fled by that time,” said Khantapara police station IIC Krushnachandra Palai.
