The Special Judge, Vigilance, Balswar convicted Bijay Kumar Mohapatra, former secretary of Kumbhari Gram Panchayat under Baliapal Block and sentenced him to undergo RI for a period of two years and pay fine of Rs 1,000 and in default undergo RI for one month for the offence.
Further, he was sentenced to undergo RI for three years, pay fine of Rs 5,000 and in default undergo RI for three months in another case.
The charge against him was misappropriation of money amounting to Rs 15,000 received under JRY Scheme by showing false expenditure in cash book towards construction of Tapandia Purbasahi bridge. On completion of investigation, the case was charge sheeted against him to face trial.
