The District Labour Department has initiated steps to bring back a few girls who went Andhra Pradesh for earning their livelihood and got stuck without salary.
In fact, a video purportedly made by these girls went viral in which they appealed to the district administration and the Government machineries to rescue them as they were allegedly tortured both mentally and physically by the company officials without providing food. One of the complainants, Anita Jena (19) of Sadanandpur village under Basta police station who went to work in a cotton mill in August through a middleman alleged they had not been paid salary for two months and not given adequate food.
And on the other hand, they were beaten. Further, their mobile phones were snatched by the company officials and they were not allowed to talk to their parents, she narrated. She appealed to the district administration to rescue them in desperation. The mother of the aggrieved informed the matter to the local police station at Amarda road.
Labour Inspector Dillip Kumar Hansda has been directed by the district Collector to investigate the case and take necessary action to rescue the victims.
