Baleswar finally got a traffic police station, which was inaugurated by the DIG, ER, Ghanshyam Upadhyay on Saturday.
“As of now, it’ll operate from the temporary establishment with just the adequate manpower till the time we have our own building. The district administration has been requested to provide land in a prime location. The temporary establishment was earlier functioning from the Sadar police station. The manpower might increase with further requirement. “The PCR vans would also be under the police station,” said Superintendent of Police Niti Sekhar.
DIG Upadhyay said, “With the surging number of vehicles in the town, an effective traffic management is the need of hour. What’s more important is awareness about the traffic rules among the youths of the city. Traffic as a subject should be included in the study curriculum.”
