In connection with an allegation of misbehaviour by a community organiser, the Town police on Thursday arrested three persons, including one sitting councillor Chandrasekhar Patra and two former councillors Jay Prakash Dash and Kaliash Sethi. The court, however, granted them bail.
Notably, the trio is highly influential in the area. While Dash is the brother of the Sadar MlA, his wife is now a sitting councillor. Similarly, the wife of Sethi too is a councillor of the Baleswar civic body.
Complainant Sabitiri Mishra had alleged that Baleswar Municipality chairman Alok Sahu and the arrested trio had misbehaved with her in Sahu’s official chamber for not obliging them on an issue. The police had initially registered a case under several Sections of IPC against the four accused on the basis of the FIR of Mishra, but later dropped the charge against civic body chief Sahu.
