Baleswar cop, NGO members do yeomen's job

The Inspector-in-Charge of the Jaleswar police station and two civil society bodies are receiving huge applause after they did some Good Samaritan works in their areas.

They performed the last rites of a man who had none other than a 12- year-old daughter. IIC Manas Deo said that after learning that the deceased  had no one in the family except a minor daughter, he was prompted to help in the performance of the last rites of the deceased. Two local NGOs too actively participated  in the job. The incident occurred  in Padasahi under Patharapura panchayat in Jaleswar block  and the deceased was Shyama Murmu. Shyama’s wife had died a few months back after suffering from some diseases  while he  too died owing to an illness. Deo after learning the pathetic condition  not only  offered  his shoulder  to the bier to take body to the cremation ground, but also he made other arrangements required for cremation in association with the two NGOs. By seeing active participation of Deo, the other villagers joined  the cremation later on. Since the minor girl was left an orphan without any means of eking out a living, the NGO members  said that they were taking steps to admit her to a childcare institution and look after other aspects.
