The chairman of Baleswar Municipality, a councillor and two other former councillors are in fix after a woman employee lodged an FIR with police alleging that they misbehaved with her and tried to outrage her modesty on Saturday afternoon in the office of the chairman.

The Town police have registered a case based on the complaint against Baleswar civic body chairman Alok Sahu and councillor Chandrasekhar Patra of ward number-3 and former councillors Jayprakash Dash and Kaliash Sethi.

The victim identified as Sabitri Mishra is a community organiser (CO), who is under contractual appointment. Town Inspector –in-charge Manas Deo said a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 354 (a), 294, 323 and 506 of IPC.

She, besides alleging that she was harassed by the chairman and others for a long time, said on Saturday afternoon, the chairman and the other trio openly misbehaved with her as she did not agree to do an illegal work at their instance.

“I am being tortured ever since Sahu assumed the post as the civic body chief but on Saturday, he and his supporters treated me badly when I did not oblige them on doing an illegal work,” alleged Mishra, adding she has informed the matter to the municipality executive officer and the Baleswar ADM and subsequently has lodged an FIR with the police.

The wives of former councillors Dash and Sethi are presently representing two wards as councillors, while Dash is also the younger brother of Sadar MlA Jiban Pradip Dash. Similarly, Mishra’s contract agreement would expire in 2014 after a 3-year term.

When asked, municipality chairman Sahu said, “There is no truth in Mishra’s allegations. I was simply reviewing her assignment and progress of work. But she leveled false allegations on us when I took some steps against her in a misappropriation of relief material case.”
