Balanga hospital runs in unsafe building

Published on:

Two years ago, the Puri district health authorities had declared the Balanga Government hospital building as unsafe. But despite that, everyday hospital work, outdoor, emergency and other patient services are running in the dilapidated building.

More than 50,000 inhabitants of Nimapara, Pipili and Satyabadi constituencies depend on the Balanga Government Hospital for health services. After a long vacancy of a doctor post, recently the Health Department has posted a doctor due to heavy demand of local people.

But due to worst condition of the hospital building, water leaks from its roof at the time of rain. Besides, walls of the building have developed crack. Meanwhile, Chief District Medical Officer Bijan Kumar Mohanty said the hospital building would be renovated soon. But the question is if any mishap occurs at present, who would be held responsible.
