A flood-like situation has occurred in Bhadrak district with the Baitarani river breaching the danger mark at Akhuapada on Sunday. The water level rose to 18.10 metres above the red mark at 17.83 metres.
Dhamnagar and Bhandaripokhari blocks of the district were the worst-affected following the rise in water level of Baitarani due to incessant rains in the past two days.
Agricultural lands in six panchayats and four panchayat of Bhandaripokhari and Dhamnagar blocks, respectively, were inundated with floodwater. Apart from Bhadrak, the flood situation remained critical in Anandapur in Keonjhar district. Several areas in Ghasipura and Anandapur blocks were marooned due to floods in the rivers of Kusei and Ghagara.
