Bail eludes Mahima even after chargesheet

Remanded to judicial custody for over nine months now, bail still eludes industrialist Mahimananda Mishra as the Cuttack Sadar SDJM Court on Tuesday turned down his bail application moved afresh after submission of the chargesheet in connection with the 2013 bomb blast case in Cuttack.

SDJM Bijay Kumar Das was not inclined to allow the bail application of Mishra, who has been charged by the Cuttack commissionerate police under Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention) of IPC, informed Cuttack Public Prosecutor Biswajit Baral.

After he was arrested in a murder case by the Paradip police in December last year, Mishra was also taken into custody by the Madhupatna police in Cuttack for his alleged involvement in the 2013 Press Square bomb blast case in which two persons, including an advocate, were injured.

Although Mishra had been granted bail by the Orissa High Court in the Paradip murder case, he is unable to get bail in the bomb blast case as the same was also once rejected by the High Court.

However after the recent submission of the police chargesheet against him in the bomb blast case, he made a fresh bid to get bail in the changed scenario.
