Tension erupted at the Kutra bus-stand in Sundargarh district after two bags containing beef were found in a bus on Sunday.
According to reports, an unidentified person boarded the bus, which was on its way to Sundargarh from Rourkela, at the Jamapal bypass in the morning and kept his two bags in the luggage cabin of the vehicle.
Suspecting presence of beef in the bags, some locals chased the vehicle. After the bus stopped at the Kutra bus-stand, they checked the luggage cabin and found the beef in the bags.
While the passenger fled the spot, the Kutra police, on being informed, reached the place and seized the bags. Investigation into the matter was underway.
