Khariar BJP MlA Hitesh Kumar Bagartti has approached statutory bodies like Company law Board (ClB), Calcutta, SEBI and the Registrar of Companies to exonerate himself from the Naba Diganta chit fund stain.
“I am in no way involved in the irregularities of the Naba Diganta Group, because I was not a party to the decision making body of the company” Bagartti said.
The Naba Diganta group of companies, which consists of Naba Diganta Properties ltd, Naba Diganta Capital Services ltd and Naba Diganta Finance ltd, was in limelight a few days ago as financial irregularities were alleged against it and three of its Board of the Directors were reportedly the members of Odisha legislative Assembly.
The company, headed by one Anjan Kumar Baliarsing had acquired share capital from common people assuring them better returns. The State Government has ordered Crime Branch inquiry into its operations after financial irregularities were alleged against it by the depositors.
Bagartti said he deposited Rs 3 lakhs as equity share in the company in three installments on the request of its functionaries. He was later incorporated as one of the Board of Directors of the company. “I was lured by CMD Baliarsing to become a Director in the company and I was bound to accept their offer to protect my financial interest,” pointed out Bagartti.
In his petitions filed with the ClB and SEBI, Barartti said he has mentioned that the company flouted all, did not adhere to the main objects and misutilised public money.
Bagartti is considered to be one of the honest leaders of the area. He started his carrier as the Chairman of Boden Panchayat Samiti and subsequently became the Zilla Parishad president of Nuapada district before becoming the MlA. Not a single allegation of corruption has been leveled against him during his political carrier. “It is a question of life and death for me, because my name is referred as one of the directors although I had resigned from the post much before the allegations were raised. Thus I have taken the help of these statutory bodies to get justice” Bagartti said.
