Students of the Mohan Subudhi College of Badamba, after submitting a 16-point charter of demands to the Principal, went on a strike by staging a dharna before the Principal’s office on Saturday.
As the college has hiked the readmission fee for Plus Three third year students to about Rs 700 compared, the students have been protesting against it.
This apart, the students demand that the authorities appoint a permanent Principal, make a boundary wall, construct boys’ and girls’ hostels, digitise the library, fill up of the required faculties posts, etc.
Students’ Union president Suvendu Pradhan told this paper that unless all the demands are met, there is no question of opening the college. On the other hand, Principal Kishore Sahoo said he is aware of the students’ demands and trying to meet them soon after consultation with the president of the governing body.
