The Pattamundai police in Kendrapada district recovered the dead body of a premature baby girl from a canal roadside near the Pattamundai NAC office on Sunday.
Some locals unearthed the premature newborn lying on the roadside while some stray canines were feasting the body. Being informed, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the dead body and later sent it for autopsy. Meanwhile, the police registered an unnatural death case in this regard.
Police suspect that an unwed mother, who might have terminated her pregnancy and abandoned the premature baby while some local people are of the view that the parents of the child might have done this due to unwanted girl child.
