A one-month-old male child was admitted in critical condition in the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) after he was pressed with hot iron bangles.
The hospital sources confirmed that serious burn injury in as many as ten spots of the body of the infant was noticed.
Chian Barla of lohar basti area of Degaon in the outskirts of Rourkela city had noticed black veins on stomach of his child and suspected some health problem. Thereafter he and his wife consulted an old woman of the same area who treats by black magic. After examining the child, she suggested of pressing hot bangles on the infant’s body.
Accordingly, she did it on different parts of the body of the child on Wednesday. During evening, the child had became critical and stopped to accept mother feeding. later, he was rushed to the RGH.
“Burn marks in as many as ten locations on the body of the child has have been noticed and the health condition of the child is now critical ,” said RGH pediatrician DB Panda.
