Krushna Chandra Babu, a senior advocate has been elected as the president of the Sambalpur District Bar Association (SDBA) for the year 2013-14.
He succeeded Dr Pramod Rath who was elected twice consecutively. Similarly, Siddhartha Sekhar Sahu is the new elected general secretary for the current year. Sahu bagged 406 votes and defeated his close contestant, Rangeya Sarangi, by a margin of 257 votes. Other elected office bearers are Surendra Mohanty, vice president, Nandakishore Sarangi, joint secretary and Priyaranjan Barpanda, assistant secretary. Ravi Ranjan Pujari, Anup Taria, Pramod Saraf, Bhagat Singh, Bibhuti Bhusan Mishra and Prakash Suna were elected as the executive body members.
"Establishment of a High Court bench will be the priority before us since it is a year-long demand of the people here," Babu said.
