The Berhampur police of Nilgiri in Baleswar district on Tuesday arrested three persons of a family of Jamunal village following the death of a 30-year-old daughter-in-law due to severe burn injuries on October 17. The deceased was identified as Parbati Kabata.With burn injuries, Kabita had been admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack on October 9 and died there on October 17.
The in-laws had claimed that fire had occurred accidentally due to spillage of kerosene.However, Kabita’s parents and residents of Purunabaripada under Khunta police station had alleged that she was tortured physically and mentally for dowry and was burnt. Her father Ajit Malik had lodged an FIR at the Berhampur police station in this regard. Acting on complaint, police have arrested deceased’s husband Antrayami Kabat and in–laws, Barendra and Kunumani Kabat.
