In order to bring transparency in the bureaucratic system and keeping security in view, almost all the Government establishments  although have been asked to instal CCTVs, yet in the district here, several important establishments are going either without CCTVs or their systems are lying defunct.  In some of the establishments, reports said, the defunct cameras for months are not replaced with new ones by the authorities despite complaints from the consumers and visitors. Reports informed that as many as 45 key establishments are functioning in the district headquarters town and in several of them the cameras are not functioning properly while in some others the cameras are lying defunct for months. There are allegations that in some of the key establishments including the RTO, District Headquarters  Hospital , District Education Office , Sub Registrar office, tehsil office, PWD ,RD, Labour offices and two police stations, the CCTVs are not fully functional. It is further alleged that they were not mended due to oblique reasons. There have been incidents of missing files and documents and fires in some Government offices, yet the exact reasons for the mishaps are not known due to absence of CCTVs.

In order to curb thefts of bikes and other materials, the cameras prove very useful, yet in many offices the absence of CCTVs suits the interest of the miscreants. Besides it is alleged that they help carrying out under- the- table deals by the venal officials.
