B’swar-Bhadrak coop bank job scam

Published on:

Acting on an inquiry report on the irregularities in the appointment of Data Entry Operators (DEOs) in the Baleswar-Bhadrak Central Cooperative Bank (BBCCB) in 2011, the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCSO) in a letter to the bank secretary has directed to terminate an agreement with an outsourcing agency assigned for the appointments and submit a compliance report within 15 days.

The order was made after it was found that DEOs were hired through an outsourcing agency in an irregular manner violating the HR Policy of Central Cooperative Bank, 2011.

Sources said as many as 37 DEOs were appointed by the bank contravening rules. One Sujit Nayak challenging the appointment had approached the RCSO and later, the Baleswar Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies (DRCS) was assigned to conduct an inquiry into the allegation.

The DRCS after examining six different points and parameters had submitted a nine-page report to the RCSO.

However, sources said though the RCSO letter was communicated on July 15 to the bank secretary, the latter feigned ignorance stating that he had not received any such direction.

Meanwhile, several society members as well as bank customers said that the bank was functioning in an autocratic manner and a probe into the DEO appointment scam could lead to detection of several other irregularities.
