Farmers of Bugbuga gram panchayat under Atabira block of Bargarh district have not yet received crop insurance compensation for the last Rabi season.
In addition, four affected farmers in the panchayat have not been covered by the 2017 Kharif crop insurance. The affected farmers had informed this to the Bargarh district Collector on January 4. But they are yet to get the benefit. So, hundreds of farmers of Bugbuga panchayat sat in front of the Collector’s office on Tuesday in protest.They warned that they would not back down unless they have a firm promise to be paid crop insurance compensation.
