Dr Sushmita Dash and her husband Dr Rajesh Tripathy are known for their social work not only in Bargarh but in the entire western Odisha. Dr Dash and her husband Dr Tripathy are now the owner of Saikrupa Nursing Home, Bargarh.
Their good manners made them very popular with the people. Both the couple received letters of appreciation from various quarters for helping the needy at various times.
Although the nursing home is for commercial purposes, it is also referred to as a service home by many because of its special concessions to the needy poor. The doctor couple observes Nuankhai by welcoming the distressed to their home and watch Car festival and Dhanu Yatra by travelling with the inmates of various old age homes.
They have also established a museum on their own initiative to preserve the honour of PadmaShri Haldhar Nag, the pride and glory of western Odisha. Along with this, Dr Sushmita's passion for providing financial support to cancer patients and creating health awareness in rural areas is praiseworthy. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also praised the efforts of the couple on social media for distributing food to the needy during the first lockdown due to Corona and conducting health check-ups. Both, however, have chosen to stay away from active politics and continue to do social work for the underprivileged.
They have pledged to donate their organs to medical students for research after their death. Although there are many doctors and private hospitals and clinics in Bargarh, the poor prefer Saikripa and both doctors are always in the limelight for their sense of service.
