Visit the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAV) located at Govidpur, 15 km from Bargarh and you will find no proper road, drinking water facility, while the school is deficient in infrastructure. Consequently, the children and teachers are facing a lot of problems.
As there is no water purifier or filter in the school, the students have to drink unhygienic tap water. There is no playground for the students and no cycle stand. The bicycles are parked haphazardly in front of the school, giving an ugly sight.
To add to the woes, there is no math teacher in the school since long.
So the children are deprived of math classes. There is no Group D employee and clerk either.
Besides, the school does not have sufficient furniture for the students forcing them to sit on the floor. Numerous allegations have been lodged with the district Collector in this regard, but in vain.
The Parents Association of the OAV, Bargarh, meanwhile, has threatened to stage demonstration in front of the Chief Minister’s residence if the problems of the school are not sorted out soon.
