AYUSH docs threaten to take to streets

Published on:

The AYUSH Doctors’ Association on Sunday threatened that it would take to the streets if the State Government doesn’t regularise their services at the earliest.

“AYUSH doctors have been providing health services in place of Allopathic doctors for the last 11 years. In 2016, the Health and Family welfare Department had decided to create 1,485 posts to regularise AYUSH doctors.

“However, the proposal has not been approved by the Finance Department yet. Now, the doctors, who had been appointed on the basis of marks in 2007 and 2008, have crossed maximum age limits to appear for OPSC exams. Hence, the Government should regularises all these doctors soon on different ways,” demanded association president Dr Jyoti Ranjan Gahan and RBSK Doctor Association president Dr Sushil Mohapara in a statement.

They suggested that the AYUSH doctors should be appointed either through OPSC Concurrence or by relaxing marks and age limits for OPSC tests or by simplifying process under the Validation Act.

They too demanded that the system of regularisation after six years in job, as adopted in case of Government doctors, be applied for AYUSH doctors soon.

The associations held a meeting here and resolved to resort to an intense agitation if the demands are not met soon. Among others, Dr Prabhakar Das, Dr Subrat Mohapata and Dr Subrat Panda attended, among others.
