AYUSH doctors would begin a cease-work agitation and a dharna in front of the State Assembly here if the State Government doesn’t regularise them soon, informed AYUSH Doctors’ Association president Dr Jyoti Ranjan Gahan in a statement on Sunday.
“AYUSH doctors, selected on mark basis, have been providing health services in the absence of required numbers of allopathic doctors for the last 11 years. After repeated demands, the Health Department took a decision to create new jobs to regularise them in 2016. The Assembly Standing Committee and the Union Government have also asked the State Government to regularise them. However, the State Government is now saying that AYUSH doctors have to pass OPSC tests to get their jobs regularised,” lamented Gahan.
Gahan said the association decided in an emergency meeting that all AHUSH doctors would resort to a cease-work agitation and sit on a dhrana in front of the State Assembly if the Government doesn’t meet their demands soon. The association demanded that the Government pay a minimum salary of Rs 50,000 per month to each AYUSH doctor or put them on ad hoc basis until their jobs are regularized.
Among others, Dr Bishwaranjan Jena, Dr Umakant Sahoo, Dr Mamata Mohanty, Dr Dibyaranjan Sahoo, Dr Prabhakar Das, Dr Subrat Mohapatr and Dr Kishore Kumar Pradhan attended the meeting.
