While giving nod to the Annual Programme Implementation Plan of Rs 2,584.38 crore for the year 2019-20, Chief Secretary AP Padhi directed the Women and Child Development Department to make the Anganwadi Centres more aspirational and attractive for the students.

Presiding over State Empowered Committee meeting, Padhi directed to have appropriate site selection for construction of AWCs close to the village and habitation.

He also directed to supply LPG connection and refill to more and more AWCs and saturate all in phased manner. It was further decided to supply medicine kits to all the AWCs which would contain general medicines and vitamins for children.

WCDD Secretary Anu Garag placed the need for a ‘Mamata Corner’ in AWCs for health and antenatal check up of the expecting mothers. Considering the need, Chief Secretary Padhi approved the proposal. AWCs will also be developed with beautification of external walls, interior designs, kitchen gardens, boundary walls, electrification, drinking water and toilets.
