An awareness drive on causes and symptoms of asthma, ‘BreatheFree-Clinic-on-Wheels’, which is initiated by the Cipla limited has been inaugurated in the State.
The BreatheFree Yatra, will travel across the key regions in the State offering free respiratory checkups and doctor consultations to the people in each location. The van will cover interiors of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Baleswar.
Senior Consultant Physician, Bhubaneswar, Dr Bijoy Kumar Mishra and MD in Pulmonary Medicine at the Capital Hospital here Dr Satya Ranjan Panigrahy said that despite the availability and affordability of world class treatment, the asthmatics in the country are deprived of a normal life.
According to WHO, 300 million people suffer from asthma whereas 255,000 people have succumbed to the disease due to delay in diagnosis. Total control of asthma is possible through inhalation.
