Rajya Sabha member AV Swamy received warm welcome in the district here, where he attended three meetings at Chhatia, Joranda and the headquarters town.
Swamy was greeted by thousands Sabar adivasis from more than 100 villages at Chhatia. They apprised him about their grievances. Swamy’s attention was drawn to the illegal Palli Sabhas which were held to cheat the innocent tribal for acquisition of land for CESC plant.
Nilamadhab Adivasi Sabara Sangha president Mayadhar Pradhan and Anti Corruption Committee secretary Ranjan Kumar lenka also spoke in the meeting at Chhatia, besides Swamy.
Swamy met Sadhus of the Mahima cult at Joranda. Joranda Bikas Parisad general secretary Baba Abinasi Das, treasurer Anand Mohanty, Zilla Parisad members Bidyulata Rout and Rubi Biswal and Krushak Sangharsha Samiti district committee member Pitabas Rout urged Swamy to take step for a mega water supply project in the locality.
Earlier, Swamy interacted with journalists, administrators, educationalists, social activists and students at Dhenkanal. He also participated in a prize distribution ceremony.
