Auto-rickshaws and taxis would stay off the road across the State during Bharat Bandh called by the Congress on Monday.
A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of the auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers’ associations, which extended their support to the bandh call.
In view of this decision, it is expected that road communication, especially in cities and towns, in the State is going to be crippled as most of the office-goers and common commuters depend either on auto-rickshaws or town buses for travelling every day.
The associations’ decision came just hours after Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik appealed to the people to extend support to the Bharat Bandh.
