In an inhumane act, an auto-rickshaw driver allegedly left three injured passengers to their fate after the vehicle met with an accident at Belpahar in Jharsuguda district on Tuesday night.

One of them later died succumbing to his injuries on the spot.

On being informed, police on Wednesday reached the spot, rescued the injured and admitted them to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital.

According to reports, Jadhav Satra, Kabir Mallick and Subhash Mallick, all three labourers hailing from West Bengal, had reached Jharsuguda in night by the Gitanjali Express train.

While they were going from the Jharsuguda railway station to Belpahar by the auto-rickshaw, the vehicle dashed against a stationary truck from rear leaving them injured.

The auto-rickshaw driver then dumped them at a nearby forest and fled the spot. While Jadhav died, Kabir and Subhash sustained grievous injuries.
