The BJD candidates Anang Udaya Singh Deo and Bhupinder Singh were declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from the State after the time for withdrawal of nominations was over on Thursday.
Though the by-elections for the two vacant RS seats were scheduled on July 3, there was no other valid nomination for the fray. So, Secretary of the Odisha Assembly Amiya Kumar Sarangi, who is the Returning Officer of the RS election declared the BJD nominees elected uncontested.
