The Singhadwara police here on Monday arrested a servitor of the Jagannath Temple in connection with the attack on mediapersons by sevayats during the recent Niladri Bije ritual of lord Jagannath and His siblings.
The arrested servitor is Madhusudan Khuntia.
Police had earlier arrested six sevayats Madan Khuntia, Bapi Khuntia, Shankar Palankdhari, Bipin Patri, Papun Mohapatra and Baban Khuntia– for their alleged involvement in the incident.
Notably, the Pahandi of lord Sudarshan had been delayed on the day of Niladri Bije after a young woman was seen on Taladhwaj, the chariot of lord Balabhadra, despite the ban imposed by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on climbing atop of chariots by devotees or anyone other than sevayats.
