A peace committee was formed for conciliation between activist Debashisha Hota’s group and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick’s group in the presence of Dhenkanal SP Basanta Kumar Panigrahy.
The committee was chaired by the local Sub-Collector. Minister's supporters had allegedly attacked activist Ranjan lenka three times over an encroachment of land issue and despite repeated complaints from the victim’s side, the police were not taking action against the culprits. Against this, Hota’s forum had taken to streets several times recently. In his Jail Bharo stir 5,000 supporters had participated on September 7.
The administration had earlier assured of a peace committee. It was decide that the committee will sit once in every month and will sort out various problems of the locality. The SDPO, IIC, the Additional Tehsildar were present in the first meeting.
