Attack on CM: Dey blasts 'power-hungry BJP

Veteran politician Arun Dey on Wednesday condemned the act of shoe hurling at Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during an election meeting in Bijepur on Tuesday and came down heavily on the BJP for the incident.

Dey told mediapersons here that both the Bijepur case and earlier Bhorai incident of egg pelting at the CM were orchestrated by the BJP, which, he said, can go to any extent in its hunger for power.

“They had killed Mahatma Gandhi; so, everything is possible on their part. Now, they can take any extreme step to grab aad remain in power,” Dey said, asking, “Eggs and then shoes, what’s the nextIJ”

He also criticised the police administration, saying that such incidents happened owing to a glaring failure on the part of the intelligence agency. There is a complete breakdown of law and order in the State due to inefficiency of the police. If they cannot ensue safety of the Chief minister, what to talk of common people, he questioned.

Dey said people are scared of the way things are happening. Policing is now below expectation and needs to be revamped,” observed the former MlA.
