Sitting MlA and BJD candidate for Athagarh Assembly seat Ranendra Pratap Swain suffered a jolt as over a hundred of villagers, including BJD workers, burnt his effigy at Padagaon in Badasamantarapur gram panchayat on Sunday.
According to reports, the villagers led by BJD-supported Sarapanch Birakishore Rout and Badasamantara GP BJD president Bidyadhar Barik burnt Swain’s effigy alleging that Swain neglected them a lot during his current stint. The GP was included in the constituency before 2009 elections.“Swain has not visited our area since he won the seat. We are yet to get basic facilites in our village. He has turned deaf years to our demands,” said the agitating villagers.
