Gopabandhu Science College Principal Harapriya Samantaray on Tuesday lodged an FIR against a dozen of students with the local police alleging that they damaged college properties after failing in the Students’ Union polls held on Monday.
About 15 to 20 students along with a handful of outsiders went on a rampage in the Staff Common Room and Education Department office damaging a 49-inch lED TV, wall clocks, air-conditioners, computers and furniture. The cost of items damaged by students would be around `7 lakhs, Samantray mentioned in the FIR.
She further alleged that the students used slangs against her and other staff members. They also set some valuable files and documents on fire.Sourav Panda, Amiya Kumar Behera, Mukesh Yadav, Kuna Rout, Santosh Mishra, Subham Rout, Samir Das, Debi Prasad Sethi, Prasant Sahoo, Soumyadeep Das, Pravanjan Sethi, Sourav Pradhan and Pratap Paikaray have been named in the FIR.
The students were not avialable for comment and the reason for the incident was not revealed till the investigation was on.
